Susan M. Fennelly

Susan Maloney Fennelly of Hampton Bays died at her home on August 7 at the age of 63.  Sue was born on March 29, 1957 in Queens, New York to Ronald “Bud” and Marge Maloney.  After moving from Westbury to Hampton Bays after spending a summer on the water, Sue graduated Bishop McGann-Mercy High School in 1975 and, after attending college, worked in the family insurance business. 

Mrs. Fennelly married her husband Tim in 2000, also of Hampton Bays.  Their newly combined family included Sue’s children, Kimberly and David Steers and stepsons, Timothy and Christopher Fennelly, a cocker spaniel named Chipper and ultimately her beloved goldendoodle, Maggie Mae.  Their spouses and grandchildren would follow.

Sue’s loves included anything creative.  Never fearful of trying a new skill, you would regularly find Sue in a library cooking class or an Adult Education program at school learning a craft or how to paint. Always willing to try something new or to lend a hand to a friend, she loved her community and anyone she considered a friend.  Growing up in Hampton Bays, Sue enjoyed the beaches at Ponquogue and all that Hampton Bays has to offer.  Over the years, Sue was a stranger to no one. 

Above all, her passion for her family, especially her grandchildren, was second to none.  Sue is survived by her husband, Tim Fennelly and her children, Kimberly Maloney Clemensen (Lars) and David Harvey Steers; her stepsons, Tim (Michelle) and Chris (Kristen) and her grandchildren, Ryland, Josiah, Samantha, Christian, Alexandra and Isabelle; and siblings, including Ronald, John, Tom and Rob Maloney and Kathleen Walsh. 

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 12 at the Scott-Rothwell Funeral Home and a funeral mass at St. Rosalie’s Church in Hampton Bays is scheduled for Thursday, August 13 at 10:30am.
