Rosaria Heaney

Roseann Heaney of Hampton Bays died on March 22. She was 75.

She was born in Sicily, Italy, and together with her family traveled to the United States by ship, the SS Andrea Doria, and entered through Ellis Island in 1955. The family settled in Brooklyn.

She met her husband, Dan, in Brooklyn, and they were married in 1969. A few years later, they moved to Hampton Bays to raise their children. They opened a business, made many friends and became part of the community.

She loved arts and crafts, gardening and entertaining in her home, where, her family said, everyone was made to feel like family. Most of all, she loved being around her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Dan; her daughter, RoseMarie Weissbard and son-in-law Brett Weissbard and her grandchildren, Cooper and Haley Weissbard; her son, Anthony Heaney and granddaughters Sara and Sidney Heaney; her son, John Heaney and daughter-in-law Robin Heaney, and granddaughters, Rebecca and Jordyn Heaney; her brother, Peter Rizzotto and sister-in-law Elaine Rizzotto.

Roseann will be deeply missed, her family said.

Services will be held on Monday, April 1, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Scott-Rothwell Funeral Home in Hampton Bays. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 2, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rosalie’s Church in Hampton Bays.
