Michael D. Fruin

Michael D. Fruin of Laurel died on December 13th. He was 50 years old.

Mike  was born on July 16, 1970 to Grace Casserly and the late Dennis Fruin in Queens NY.

Mike was a longtime resident of Hampton Bays and a graduate of Hampton Bays Public Schools. Mike was a law enforcement officer with over 28+ years of service.  His entire career was spent as a faithful serving LEO and detective (badge  #302) of the Quogue Village Police Department. He was a dedicated son, husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather.  In his spare time, he loved hosting friends and family, boating,  and spending time with his dogs Lenny, Mitzy, Sydney, and Walter.

Mike  was predeceased by his father Dennis J. Fruin; he is survived by his mother Grace Casserly of Hampton Bays; wife Suzanne; son Robert; daughter Jennie; granddaughter Violet, all of Laurel; sisters Christine (Peter) of Old Saybrook CT, April of Riverhead, and Tara of WA; and brothers Alphie and William.  Michael is also survived by uncles Bill Fruin, Bob Fruin and aunt Marianne Angelo; He was a special uncle to Alex, Ben and Grace, as well as a foster-dad to James.   

A private service was held on December 15th with a procession of Southampton and Quogue Police escorting Mike past Quogue Village PD and into Hampton Bays.  A post-covid celebration will be held at a future time.
