Kevin Smith Sr.

Kevin W. Smith, Sr. “Smitty” of East Quogue passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 6, 2020.

Mr. Smith was born September 10, 1957 in Riverhead, New York to James J. Smith, Sr. and Jean Oliver. Kevin was a familiar face in the community. He joined the East Quogue Fire Department in 1975 and was a member of its Benevolent Association until his death. Mr. Smith was retired from the Southampton Town Maintenance Department where he had brought a smile with his sense of humor to everyone he encountered while performing his rounds.

An avid outdoorsman, Kevin not only enjoyed hunting and fishing, but he also enjoyed preparing his catches into delicious meals for his family and friends. Mr. Smith was a loyal friend and generous to a fault. Kevin would often go without in order to provide for others in need. His mischievous smile and infectious laugh will be forever missed by those who knew him.

Kevin is survived by his children Kevin W. Smith, Jr. (Vicki) of East Quogue, Michael Doucette (Amy) of Baiting Hollow, Laura Doucette of Maine, and Christopher Doucette of Virginia. He was a devoted grandfather to Carlin and Keegan Byrne; Kelly, Dylan, and Charlotte Doucette; and Eleena and Amelia Doucette. Mr. Smith is also survived by his siblings James J. Smith, Jr. (Barbara) and Eugene “Mickey” Smith of East Quogue, and Mindy Darby (James) of Hampton Bays; and nieces Tara Lockwood, Lisa Case, Aimee Smith, Stephanie Israel, Lexa Smith, and Jeanette Darby.

Mr. Smith was predeceased by his wife, Monica (StClair), his father James J. Smith, Sr., his mother Jean E. Silcox, stepfather John D. Silcox of East Quogue, a sister Jonam D. Silcox of East Quogue, and a brother, Samuel F. Smith of East Quogue and Coconut Creek, Florida.

Visitation will be held Friday November 13, 2020 from 4-8pm at Scott-Rothwell Funeral Home located at 20 Ponquogue Ave, Hampton Bays. A grave side service will be held on Saturday November 14at 11AM at Oakwood Cemetery in East Quogue.
