Helen Papajohn

Helen Papajohn of Hampton Bays died on March 25, 2023. She was 89.

Helen was born on May 21, 1933, in Manhattan, New York to Nicholas and Alexandra Halkas. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John Michael Papajohn.  Helen is survived by her loving children, John, Nicholas, Michael and Alex Papajohn. She was the cherished grandmother of five and great grandmother of one.

The love of our life, our creator, it saddens us to utter these words, our mother Helen Papajohn passed away on Greek Independence Day (freedom). She was two months away from 90th birthday. She had four boys, even the dog was a male. She was our teacher our Queen. The sadness and hurt can’t be described by mere words. Her memory and spirit will live within us all for eternity. She will be joined together with our father in God’s Kingdom. Her life as all of ours was full of joy and at times sadness. Life is good and not fair, there’s a balance. She passed with no pain or suffering in our arms and for this we thank you God. Probably the hardest things we have ever had to endure. We love you mom you’ll be missed and never forgotten. 

A Visitation will be held at the Greek Orthodox Church located at 111 Saint Andrews Road in Southampton from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM on Thursday, March 30th. A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, 10: 00 AM at the Greek Orthodox Church in Southampton. A burial will follow the service at Calverton National Cemetery.
