Heidi Ann Kulp of East Hampton “loved to take advantage of all her hometown had to offer,” her family said, “and spent many fun-filled hours fishing, Jet Skiing, and kicking back on the beach. She was also passionate about traveling, fast cars, dancing, and nights out on the town.”

Ms. Kulp, who had been in failing health for the past few years, died on Dec. 5. She was 53 and had been living in East Patchogue since July 2020.

She was born in Mineola on June 23, 1969, to Dennis Riscen and the former Donna Ventresca and grew up there and in East Hampton, graduating from high school here.

With her husband, Jason Kulp, she had her first son in 1993, with twin boys born three years later. She raised her sons in East Hampton, becoming known as the “neighborhood mother” with a “heart bigger than Long Island,” her family said. “She took joy in preparing large Italian meals and was often cooking for all of her boys and their friends, all while running a successful cleaning business.”

Her children were “her greatest achievement,” her family said, and she cherished time spent with them and with other family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Joshua R. Kulp and Zackary J. Kulp, both of Port Jefferson, and Dylan James Kulp of Sag Harbor, and by her husband, her mother, a brother, James Patrick Barrett of Riverhead, a sister, Danielle M. Barrett of East Hampton, and a grandson, Logan Anthony Thompson Kulp.

The family will receive visitors tomorrow from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Scott Rothwell Funeral Home in Hampton Bays. A funeral will be held at St. Rosalie Catholic Church in that hamlet on Saturday at 10 a.m.
