Sundays in Heaven just got a whole lot better!
In the early morning hours of Saturday, November 20, 2021, Anthony M Galgano Jr. passed away after living graciously and courageously with cancer for many years. He joins his mother, Cira Galgano, father, Anthony M Galgano Sr. and sister, Frances Limoli in Heaven. He is survived by his wife, Wendy Galgano, son, Michael Galgano, daughter, Jennifer Minihane and five grandchildren, Alec Galgano, Heather Galgano, Kieran Minihane, Margaret Minihane and Connor Minihane. Anthony Galgano was truly devoted to his family, and while he was certainly a man of the community, he was simply Papa Tony to them.
Tony Galgano was an accomplished businessman who was best known for owning the famed Boardy Barn in Hampton Bays for 51 years with partner Mickey Shields. While the Boardy Barn served the community with memorable fun times, celebrations and fundraisers, Tony was truly fulfilled by the positive impact this Hamptons institution had on so many people. The Boardy Barn wasn’t about making a buck off two-dollar beers. It was about people enjoying themselves. It was about happy days and long-anticipated reunions. It was about making new friends and celebrating special events. Those memorable moments meant the most to Tony.
Tony was so much more than a successful business owner. Soft-spoken and considerate, Tony went about his daily life caring more about others than himself. There was no gesture of generosity too big or too small for Tony’s kindness. To know Tony was to know what selflessness looks like in everyday life. Strangers, friends or family …didn’t matter … all of us, at one time or many times, were the recipients of his generosity. For his acts of humble kindness, he will be forever remembered. For that we are all eternally grateful.
