Anne Shelley Gertz

Anne Shelley Gertz of Hampton Bays died on March 24, 2023. She was 91.

Anne was born on December 27, 1931, in Altoona, PA, to Marion and Victor Bloomfield. She resided in Greenwich Village and Brooklyn before moving to Hampton Bays in 1992 with her beloved husband, Paul Gertz. Paul predeceased Ann in January, 2023, at the age of 97. Anne is survived by her sister, Maggie Bloomfield Gari, of Westhampton Beach, and her grandchildren,  Josia, Sage and Zion.

A Penn State graduate, Anne earned an MSW at Hunter College in 1985. During what she herself termed a great life, she was a psychotherapist, a published writer, an actor, an avid bridge player, and an active member of the Hampton Bays community for many years.

A wake and celebration of Anne’s life will be held at the Scott-Rothwell Funeral Home in Hampton Bays on Friday, May 5th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, May 6th at 10:00 AM. A private burial of cremains will follow services at Good Ground Cemetery.
